this might seem like a stupid question but does anyone make left handed parts for the 1911 or perhaps an entire left handed pistol along the same lines as the stag left handed ARs? a mirror image if you will

thanks in advance

Not currently. Randall made a true left handed 1911 back in the 80's and can be found, though they bring a premium.

I thought there was a company that did make them. I thought I remembered looking at the website of a company a couple years ago that was linked from m1911.org....

On a side note, I think it would be awesome to machine a mirrored copy of a conventional right handed 1911 to have a matching right and left hand set.

ambi safety and if you want a ambi mag release is all you should need.

There are blueprints out there for the frame and slide. It wouldn't be hard to mirror them.....

American Handgunner ran an article on a lefty 1911 a while back, seems like it was this year. No, they weren't cheap.

With an estimated 10% of shooters being lefties (maybe more?), one would think a 1911 would be an offering now that the AR is offered lefty?

Randall made them yrs ago.  Olympic now has that machinery.  Caspian made slides and frames in recent yrs.  There is an exspensive Caspian for sale on Gunbroker right now.  Dlask in Canada currently makes a pricey lefty.

Try spending some time shooting one of your 1911s left-handed, and you'll realize why they don't make one. With the addition of the ambidextrous safety, 1911s are as lefty friendly as they are righty. The mag release is a hair more awkward for the lefty (manipulated with the trigger finger instead of the thumb in the case of a righty), but slide manupulation is far easier left handed. Slam a fresh mag in and manipulate the slide release with the trigger finger. There is no shift in the grip and you're right on point. Righties must either use both hands for the slingshot, or shift the grip to thumb the slide release and then shift the grip back to firing position.

Randalls were good 1911s, but the only problem they solve is one-handed slide manupulation for "righties"

my wife is totally left handed and i wanted to see if i could get a mirror image of the 1911 i am making. For her for our anaversery. she has tried the one i have now with the ambi safety and what not and she still dosent like it so there in lies the start to this adventure.

thanks everyone for the info it looks like i am going to have to find some custom stuff or do it myself

I'm a lefty, and I use my middle finger for the mag release. Trigger finger for the slide release. It works well for me.

I have shot my 1911s left-handed. IPSC often requires weak hand shots & I practice them so as to not look like Ray Charles trying to shoot.

As for the slide release & mag release, I want to see a 1911 completely mirrored with everything on the other side of the gun so one's thumb may use them as JMB intended.

For the record, I'm right handed, but I shoot with several LH shooters.
