I picked up a Springfield 1911 A-1 in the early nineties and like a dumbass
sold it later but it was arguably the best .45 I had. It's serial # began NM had the cross cannons stamped behind the ejection port w/ Brazil stamped forward on the frame.
It has a utility blued slide I believe and a lighter blued frame giving it almost a two tone appearence. When did Springfield quit bliung and start Parkerizing it's Gov.
models AND does anyone know if I can replicate that worn blue on my Mil Spec
(other then blueing it and handling the hell out of it)?

Springfield themselves may be your best bet in getting accuracte dates & info, IMO. They're pretty good about answering e-mails as well as phone calls.

Good luck!

If you have the serial number they can tell you anything you need to know, just give them a buzz as it would be quicker than email.
