the PT1911 is a pretty decent and reliable 1911 for the price...h/w, considering the upped prices i've seen lately, i would rather pass on em and opt for a Springfield Armory or Smith and Wesson 1911

reasons: machining and parts on the PT1911 arent as refined or imo, of the same quality as the bigger brands; finish is rough and wears fast; most aftermarket parts dont properly fit the PT1911 as well...but as is, it works best; for the price of ~$500, the PT1911 was a great buy...but as prices approached ~$600+, not so much; esp since Taurus' customer service is one of the more disappointing ones in the business

i use to own a PT1911, it ran fine and i was satisfied w/ em

Fixed it.......

Springfield Armory will beat the pants off of Taurus on Customer Service & will bring a higher resale value as well should you ever trade up on a better model.

If you cruise thru the 1911 Forum you'll find those who love & loathe both brands, much like any real brand. But ask multiple gunsmiths & they'll tell you that Springfield is the better gun.

If you can find one, I would highly suggest getting a used Les Baer. I got one for $900 that had never been fired!     It sells for around $1500-1700 new these days.
