My almost-10-year old Kimber Target has developed an intermittent ejection problem. In about 2-3% of the rounds the fired case won't be ejected out the chamber (but it's not a stovepipe, it doesn't clear the slide enough for a stovepipe to happen). I slid an empty case under the extractor, and it holds firm, just the way it should be. The ejector seems to be a bit loose, when I press down on the back of it there is some movement, about 1mm. When I fed an empty case, and racked the slide (hard), the case would either not be ejected (it would be extracted fine, but not leave the pistol), or just be weakly ejected (running down the side of the pistol). In actual firing this happens less often, but enough to ruin a good string at a steel match. This pistol has 40-50K rounds through it, and it has always been reliable as a brick, until now. Is the failure to eject due to the slightly loose ejector, or is the extractor hook getting screwy and releasing the case prematurely? |
| Having a similar problem with my Series 70 Colt (about 30 years old with a lot of rounds through it) except it is 2 to 3 rounds per magazine. I replaced the recoil spring, main spring, firing pin spring, extractor and ejector (with Wolff Springs and wilson combat extractor and extended ejector). Prtoblem is STILL there. Plus, now about half of the fired cases have their mouth so badly damaged that they are no longer reloadable. Any ideas? |
check your feed ramps? and what mags are you using? |
Very hard to diagnose not knowing the quality of the replacement parts used, level of expertise of the person doing the replacement and some pictures of the problem. |
