At a local pawn shop I have a choice of a Taurus PT1911 with cocobolo grips for $425 with 150 rounds through it or a SW1911 with about the same round count for $575.  What are your opinions of each and which would you recommend to me?  Thanks for your thoughts.

well, it looks like my choice is clear!  I asked because someone told me that the SW1911 had quality problems, but I guess not.  Thanks for all the input.

Compared to the Taurus, the S&W is solid gold.

And if there is a problem, S&W will have it fixed and back to you before anyone at Taurus even gets around to opening the box.

S&W. After my experience with owning a PT1911, I would take ANY brand of 1911 over the Taurus.

Have experiences been good with the SW1911 as far as accuracy and reliability are concerned?

Ok,  PT 1911 has alot of extras on it.  However the entire package is not as nicely executed as the S&W.  I have seen some decent groups from the PTs.  However the S&W 1911PD is just a much nicer gun!

I don't have too many rounds through it at all yet, but I have no complaints about my PT1911.

If they're that close in price, DEFINITELY the S&W.  No doubt about it.  They go for alot more than that new.
