I have a Taurus PT1911, what are my options for a lanyard loop?  I have looked but haven't found any.  Is this going to have to be a gunsmith job?

Thanks

You'll likely have to go with a new MSH.  I recommend the one from MARS armament

I usually run a Guncrafter MSH on my 1911s. I am a big lanyard fan but I don't like having the loop hang off the bottom of the pistol if I can avoid it. The GI has an integrated lanyard loop and they have been pretty much drop in parts for me so far.

Is this something a complete NOOB to 1911's can install?

Punch out the pin, replace and re-insert the pin?

Thanks

Pretty much. Make sure your hammer is down, otherwise the MSH will launch across the room.
And when putting it back on, make sure the hammer strut seats into the MSH cap properly.

Put a rubber band or piece of tape around your grip safety/beavertail to hold it in before removing the mainspring housing.

This will tend to keep the sear spring in place so that you can simply slide the new MSH in to replace the old one.

If you let the sear spring get loose, you'll have to remove the grip safety and thumb safety in order to get the sear spring back where it needs to be.

So the new Mainspring housing is an assembly with the needed pins and spring already installed?

What is the real advantage of having the mag well funnel thingy?

Thanks

Smith&Alexander have some nice versions, and are great people to deal with. The mag well funnel really help reloading on the move.
