i need a railed 1911 for work and i've narrowed it down to SA.  i really like the full length railed version they used to make.  would i be better off getting a new trp operator or going with the older full length version?  pros and cons of full length rail trp operator vs. full length rail loaded operator? whats a good price on a used one of either?  thanks for the help gents

Haven't seen any discussion on the pros and cons of the full vs the half length rail--I have the half length rail and its just fine. The only advantage (or disadvantge) I can see on the full length rail version is the extra  muzzle weight.  There's a TRP Operator currently being offerred on gunbroker.com at $1200 with no bids. I believe that the TRP Operator with f.l. rail has  the bull barrel and no bushing, if that's an issue.

The full rail is a heavy bastard. I love mine but do not carry it like a duty gun.

The loaded guns had a standard barrel, two piece guide rod(wilson I think), and novak type sights

The TRP has everything the loaded did with the addition of bomar type night sites, bull barrel, solid guide rod, checkered front strap, and a teflon type finish(Armory Kote I think)

Some seem to think the novak sites are better on a fighting/duty gun

I really like the fronstrap checkering it is very grippy.

I had one of the loaded ones with the full rail and I sold it(dumb move) I bought the TRP and really like it but will probably end up changing the sites and finish so I would have rather started with the cheaper gun

Hope this helps

If your armorer won't bury you in a berm for getting a bull bbl, get the TRP Operator. If he/she will, get a Loaded Operator.

I built this unit last year. Caspian Frame and had a Gunsmith fit the KKM barrel. I am currently building one like this for my landlord in 45acp with a stainless slide.

i'm satisfied w/ just the non-full length rail on a SA MC Operator...best railed 1911 for the price imo

Would be my recommendation.

I actually like the Warrior also, it's the only Kimber I will use.  I would normally always vote SA over Kimber but in this case I think the Warrior is a better gun than the Operator.  Both are great and if your set on SA the Loaded MC Operater is the best choice.

SA Railed Pro in the running?  It might be worth the extra $$.

Given that the current TRP Operators (half length rail) are selling retail for $1499, the listing price for the full length Operator on GB of $1200 sounds reasonable. Don't know a thing about HK's so will defer to someone who does.  I have a conventional TRP and once I got rid of the miserable two-piece guide rod, I consider it a fine pistol.

On the gunbroker.com offering, one of the pictures taken from the rear of the pistol looking forward, appears to show the hammer askew by a significant amount--enough to readily see, that is. Don't know if that's significant or not but haven't seen that in any of my 1911s. Even on my low-end 1911s the hammer is properly centered without the hammer stop showing as is the case with the GB TRP.   Also, no mags supplied with the pistol? That's worth a few $$.  Good luck.
