Looking to pick up a 1911 and I'm looking in the <1k range. I've been looking at the Eclipse Custom II and the Custom TLE II as well. I have no experience with the Kimbers and was wondering what everyone' s take on the 2 listed was. The pistol will be mainly used in local carbine/ Pistol shoots as well as general range shooting. I have other guns I carry with, so size is not an issue. I like the Warrior with the rail but it doesn't have the front strap checkering. I also don't need target sights. Thanks

I have an Eclipse 2 and it works good, but the "45 experts" seem to think the timing on the Kimber 2 Schwartz safety is unreliable and could leave you with a click rather than a bang during the most opportune engagement. I haven't used mine enough to experience that, though.

I've got a stainless custon II that I trained with and carried on duty for about three years without a problem. That's with over 10,000 rounds fired. You will be happy with either.

having owned kimbers and SAs, etc, i'd recommend the kimbers save that they have the stupid schwartz safety in em (mine died on me in my TLE, which other than that, is a great gun)

if you want a production 1911 w/ FSC and in that price range, i'd highly suggest a SA TRP

I have a Kimber Eclipse II with 4k rds through it with zero problems, even with all kinds of magazines used in the process. Great gun and beautiful but the black oxide finish wears down if you carry it. For a safe queen it'd be great. I love mine and bought it with the holster wear because...I wear it in a holster too.

Here is mine, 4k and not a hiccup...

i've never had problem with either of my kimbers...

i have a kimber eclipse pro II with the dreaded "schwartz system" and the "external extractor"...

the only thing i've replaced on the eclipse is the plastic MSH...

i also have a barebones stainless custom II that i did some tweaking too, new MSH, trigger job, gunner grips, novak lomount sights...

i've used Wilson, CMC, and Kimber Tac Pro mags loaded with all forms of FMJ and hollow points with no issues... i normally carry Corbon DPX, although i've found the Hornady XTP's loaded by black hills to be much more accurate...

I'm looking at a slightly used one for 800. New ones are somewhere around 9 ish.I plan on using some 200 grn lead SWC loads. It is a nice range load. I couldn't find out what Warr Kimber offers on there site either.  Thanks

Between the picture I posted and the picture after it you can easily tell how the black oxide wears when holstered daily.  Beautiful Guns, I might be picking up a black stainless combat some day...

Yea, mine sees a holster periodically, but I carry a Pro CDP daily.
I sometimes use my Eclipse for IPSC and IDPA. that is the only time it
gets holstered.

Here is my old one, right after I bought it.

No, I didn't give it the idiot scratch.

It shot amazingly well for a production gun.

Yeah, it was like a lightning bolt.

I got evil looks at the range from all the 1911 people. You could see it from a long ways off.

I have a Tactical Elite Kimber site says it was one of around 250 made for a shot show. odd since I bought it new at a local shop. Not a II series 2k rounds through it not one malfunction. My brother has six Kimbers all different many thousands of rounds through them quite a bit of it Sellior & Bellot ammo (inexpensive) not a single malfunction. none of the Kimbers are II series though.

I have a custom tle II.  No problems in over three years of use.
