So, I know where there is a used TRP for $829.... Looks to be in good shape. The only problem is that the rear sight is maxed out adjusted to the right side of the gun. Makes me real leary!

Other then that the gun is in beautiful shape. A buddy of mine wants a NICE 1911, and I'm telling him that the TRP would be a nicer gun then a Kimber Custom Classic( used for $750, has no checkering, fogey compensator on it, no night sights like the TRP)

Anyhow, what do you guys think?

That's a good deal.  I have two and love them.  Both easily under 2" at 25 yards with hand loads.  Thats without a machine rest.  The only thing I can think of with the sights is that either they shot loose or the barrel has a scratch at the end of it (which may not be a big deal because it could be recrowned), causing the bullet to fly in some weird tangent, or the barrel isn't locking up properly in the slide.  If the barrel isn't locking up right, it could cause irreversible damage to both the slide and the barrel.

Right handers who 'flinch' typically will shoot low and left. The rear sight position could...and I am just guessing...have been simply an effort to compensate for low left POI by a not-so-accompliched shooter, who...when that did not work (it never really does) then sold or traded the gun.

At that price get the gun...Springfield will make it right if there is a problem.
