I have a Colt Commander slide tucked away for a project I've been wanting to do. Its a SS series 80 slide with the flat rib along the top. The rear of slide has been serrated and the top rib was started. I intended to remove the top rib and radius it like a normal 1911 slide. The intent was to mate this slide with a officers size frame and make a perfect sized carry gun.

However, I have had it tucked away for several years now and have yet to start said project. I'm starting to wonder if I might be better off selling the slide and just buying what I want. So two question: What would I be likely to sell the slide for? And: What is available in the style I want (Commander size slide, officers frame)? I would prefer aluminum frame and stainless slide, if possible. The Kimber Compact is the only one I know of and its all steel.

Check out the SigArms GSR revolution C3 compact, IIRC its a commander slide on officers frame.

Kimber makes most of their guns in the size you want, comm slide on officer frame.

Their "Compact" size is the one. At about a grand, though, you might consider building. Are you confident?

Biggest question is what do you want?  A production gun or one you know inside and out?

You could get a couple hundred for slide.

But I still think the issue is what you want.

I would think $100 is a more realistic number for the slide.  You can find Colt CCOs and Springfield Compacts floating around at the auction sites.

Put the slide up for bid on an auction site. see what it brings. I sold a  Caspian commander complete top end with two barrels on the "Old E-bay" about a year and a half ago and it brought around 275.OO
