I keep hearing how good the Rock River line of 1911's are but have not seen one, shot one all I know is what I have read and well we know how that goes.  I'm looking at buying either a Rock River 1911 or a Springfield TRP, which should I go with and why?

i'd go w/ the RRA myself

nothing against the TRP--its a GREAT production from SA, but the RRA imo is a little step up more

Never shot the RRA 1911, but based on my experience with their Ar-15s, I would go RRA without hesitation.

While the TRP is a fine 1911 it is not in the same league as the RRA.

So do I custom order a Rock River?

+1    Another level up from the TRP.  JD

Rock Rivers are my favorite 1911s.  Think of them as a more refined Baer.  Quality is excellent.  The downside is the worst customer service of any of the higher end shops.

They have several package 1911's available but they will custom build to your desires as well.

My experience has been positive with them. They are a bit hard to get a hold of, but they worked with my special requirements and came through for me.
I think their CS got a bad rap personally.

I have a Rock River Basic Carry with no front serrations and I think it's the sweetest shooting gun I've ever shot.  I give a big +1 to the RRA.
