wtf is up with the bumper pads? are they really necessary? I mean adding an inch to an already long grip.... talk about a pain to conceal. but seriously. i have three mags that i'm thinking about removing the bumper pads from. will it hurt them? they are all mark j&j and are screwed into the bottom of the mag

I doubt it is an inch.

1. positive seating of a mag
2. helps protect a dropped mag.

I carry with a flush mag in the pistol and a padded Wilson as my spare.

I used to put bumper pads on my mags before the mags came with them.

Only necessary if you have an extended magwell.  If you don't like them take them off.
