As a follow-up to my previous "minimum mods to a defensive 1911" thread: On a stock Springfield Armory GI, what MIM internals should be replaced with high-quality parts to ensure long life and reliability? Parts I'm already planning on changing: trigger hammer grip safety thumb safety MHS slide stop (?) Thanks guys! You've been very helpful. |

I knew I'd seen that somewhere before. Thanks for posting the link! Sounds good all. Thanks again for the help. Getting excited... |

I replaced the firing pin stop, slide stop, thumb safety, hammer strut, and all pins in my Mil-spec...all springs were replaced, as well as the recoil spring guide and mainspring housing. Hammer, trigger, sear, disconnector, and grip safety were not replaced; outside of the hammer, they are pretty low-stress parts. |
I don't know that the EB parts are that much of an upgrade. If you're really concerned about the slide stop and FP stop, you'd be better served getting the Wilson bullet proof parts which are machined from bar stock. The other slide stop I know of that is truly machined from bar stock is the one offered from Nighthawk. |
