For my birthday last month my wife surprised me with a new TRP Tactical in black teflon armory kote. First impression was that it is definitely the nicest out of box factory 1911 I have ever had and in the last 30+ years I've had many. The gun was rock solid, tight with no machine marks of any kind in fact the only bad thing about it was the two piece guide rod which I replaced with a Ed Brown GI setup. I also ordered and have replaced the ILS with the kit Dave Berryhil makes. So far she has close to 800 rounds down range with two feed failures that were mag related. The stock mags are 7 rounders and at best are bargain models. They were replaced with Tripp cobra mags and Wilson ETM's along with rebuilt McCormick Powermags (Tripp kit) and 47D's. At distances out to 25 yards she just made one hughe hole in the target, haven't had a chance to wring her at farther distances yet. Ammo used was mainly stock PMC 230 fmj plus 150 rounds of mixed Federal Tactical 230+p HST and 200+p EFMJ.  Novak nite sites are extremely bright and useful for what I need and the trigger breaks at a clean 4lbs per my gauge. I wouldn't change another thing and plan to leave it as is, SA did a great job with the TRP and I would put it at the top of it's class in the price range. I had been looking at a Kimber SIS but when compared side by side the TRP is much more gun for the money!

I've had mine for about 5 years, though I must say that I wasn't too impressed with the machining marks left from the factory.

I love mine over 2k rounds and no trouble except a loose pin on the adjustable site

My first black one has 500 rounds through it now and most have been the brass Blazer ball ammo. It hasn't failed ounce yet and with the Blazer ammo I've been able to get to do a jagged 1/2 inch hole at 75 yards with a full mag. I've never gone further than that with iron sights, maybe others can do better past there but I don't think i can ? Besides, thats what my AR's are for !   I love my TRP's and plan on a couple more. Here's the one that did the tight groups, its the one on the left:

But, I too have been eye balling the SIS and its drawn even more attention from me after reading its build type on Kimber's sight. It actually is built on the first gen frame as in NO CRAP FIRING PIN SAFETY. So, according to that its just like the current series 70 style Springers ? Or has Kimbers work gone that much to shit ?

Alright you know the rules. If you don't follow them you will have your man card taken from you.......where are the pictures? Congrats!!! Does the wife wife have any sisters? I'm looking to upgrade. One question are the TRPs made in the USA or out of country?

Nope, I don't think you can either.  Do you have a video of this ragged hole at 225 feet??  I'm really, really sorry, but I'd have to fly the BS flag if not.

Quiet and listen, I think I hear Sgt. York laughing.

Kinda hard to shoot groups smaller than the firearm is physically capable of.

Only funny when the shooter can't do it ! Yes it was a typo ! It was supposed to read 25 yards, not 75 and an 1 inch not 1/2 an inch. Sorry about that I was tired and not paying attention. Sorry guy's I'm not that good, I wish, but I'm not.

That sounds a little better.  Still pretty good shooting.
