I have about $1500 or so to spend. I want a NEW 1911 in 10mm. What are your thoughts on Kimber, Fusion etc... Any input is appreciated

Thanks.

If your going to reload, then pick a manufacture.

If you not going to reload, the look to either a 40 or 45.  10mm ammo doesn't come cheap, and no reason to have a pistol to only grope and not shoot it.
Also, factory 10mm ammo is on the sedate side to begin with (defense loads being the worst),and you can buy ranger 40 +P that will hit 10mm factory defense load speeds if needed, and still have the option of buying cheap value pack 40 ammo to shoot.

Colt is apparently re-introducing the Delta Elite 10mm, but I don't think you'll get it for $1,500.

I have a Kimber 10mm 1911. I also had it fit with a Kart 40S&W barrel and bushing. This is a great way to go, you have a lot of options. You can probably do all of this for $1500.00 or less,

Kimber and Dan Wesson are the only 10mms currently being produced if you want a factory gun.

Another route would be to buy a .40 gun and have a 10mm barrel fit.  Kimber and STI are two current makers.  Para Ordnance also makes a few, but I wouldn't recommend them.

I would have no reservations about buying a Fusion either.

It's also still possible to find a Delta Elite for under $1000, in some parts of the country.

BREN 10  is  built off a CZ platform not a 1911 platform. Or do I have my head in the sand.

Ammo hard to find, I picked up a 10mm and have been 0-3 in finding ammo at a shop.

Do your self a favor and buy the Dan Wesson ! I own 3 2 in 45 vand one 10mm. They use the Colt series 70 frame and don't have the damn firing pin safety. I must say the Dan Wessons have one of the best troggers I've ever used.

Since when is Winchester - or any other ammunition manufacturer - making .40 S&W +P loadings? (There isn't even an accepted standard for +P in .40, since it's already on the ridiculously high end of the pressure curve.)

Me too +1 for the new Delta. Ammo is not that hard to find, Double Tap makes some great rounds, not to much$. They also load them to true 10mm standards! Reloading is also a great option. Starline sells great brass and bullets are .40cal. Hope we see the new Delta soon!

Dan Wesson's do not have supported chambers Kimber's do. I'm buying a Kimber for my next 10mm.

Colt can kiss my ass. They turned their back on the civilian market years ago.

When are the new Deltas suppose to hit the market? I like my old one but I'd like to try a new one too.

That's strange as they have introduced two new 1911 versions (three counting the second WWI 1911) and a DOA auto in the last few months and they are ALL for the civilian market. Hmmm... I wonder why they did that.

Too little too late for me..Colt in my opinion is very slow to listen to the needs of civilian buyers. I'll spend my money on SA and Kimber products..

Easy if you know where to look;

Double Tap Ammo

It's also loaded to original velocity specs. Amazing stuff! Internet or mail order only but worth waiting for.

I have over 3k rounds through my Kimber Stainless Target II in 10,, and I'm completely pleased. It's a fine weapon.

That being said, so what's the word on the new Delta Elite?
