I'm picking up a 1911 tomorrow that I got a decent deal on (It's a Springfield Armory). The reason I got a great deal is the front sight being wobbly. Since I'm a 1911 idiot, school me on the process. Should I replace the sight? Fix the sight? How hard would you say it would be to install a standard stake sight? |
| Suggest that you have a smith either restake what you have, or install a new sight of the same type. No refinishing required. A guess would put the cost at $25. A dovetailed sight is the better solution, but you're probably looking at $100+, plus refinishing if it's anything other than a stainless slide. You can always do the latter if you want to seriously upgrade the pistol in the future. |
