Ive been wanting a COLT firearm of some sort but never really had one that I truely wanted with the exception of a mint SP1 AR15, but Im cheap and wasnt going to pay the premiums ppl wanted. So anyways.....A deal came my way that I couldnt pass up. Its a "new to me" Colt Commander 4".

Ive got a SA Loaded 5" that I luv and im hoping this one will be as much fun. I do have a couple changes though. I want to change the backstrap to a metal one and then get some nite sites put on it along with getting some rubber black grips.

Otherwise is there anything else to change? On my SA. I changed most the MIM parts for some Wilson Combat ones.

Anyways. Here is the beauty. It came with box, mag, paperwork etc.

Congratulations! Commanders are one of my favorite mutations of JMB's brainchild. If it were mine I would NOT go with rubber grips. They can stick during CCW, mar the aesthetics of the weapon and disolve to some tacky substance when bore solvent (invariably) contacts them, unless you go through the hassle removing them every time. There are so many wood and other stocks to choose from and I suggest you consider those before committing. Also, most "modern" Colts have that fugly "duck bill" safety. If it doesn't feel bad or bother you then leave it alone. It would drive me nuts though, and it wouldn't be long before I had a quality upswept "beavertail" fitted as a replacement.

And beware, Coltitis is as real as BRD and 1911tism.

Me I would some VZ grips a Ed Brown High Ride grip safety , and a non plastic Mainspring housing.

Depending on how it groups I might add a EGW "fit" bushing.

It`s a beaut! I personally wouldn`t change a thing, I like the wood. I can see wanting to change the main spring housing out, but both of my Colts have the plastic ones and they havn`t been any problem. I love those roll marks and the pony on the rear of the slide.
