| I have a Springfield Armory 1911 GI .45 and recently I've been having problems with the empty shells not fully extracting. Is there a way to fix this problem? I checked the extractor pin and everything seemed fine but the shells keep getting stuck halfway out everytime I fire. |

sounds like the extractor is slipping off the rim. Inspect the extractor for proper tension and the extractor claw for damage. What does the rim of the patially extracted case look like where the extractor engages it? I'm no 1911 expert, so I'm just taking a few well educated guesses here/ |

I'll try to recall some of the details from memory.... The rim sometimes has a slight scratch where the extractor pulls on it but sometimes it doesn't even when the shell gets stuck. |

Which model do you guys recommend? www.wilsoncombat.com/a_extractors.asp www.wilsoncombat.com/a_extractors_bp.asp |
| The way I have read to check the extractor tension is to: Take the slide off the frame and to slip a loaded round under the extractor as it would sit when actually loaded off the magazine. The extractor should have enough tension on it to hold the loaded round. There is a desired range of tension, but I think it was 16 oz or so. The 1911Forum.com |
