Im curious if XS makes any 1911 sights that DONT have to have a dovetailed frame. I would much rather not have the slide cut. Any info would be very much appreciated.

You'll have to dovetail the front sight in, unless you want to rig a Glock front sight or something.

I've never tried to put a Glock sight on a 1911, however. Don't know if it's possible.

I talked to a friend of mine today at work who works for XS, he said no.

You can't stake a front sight much heavier than the original mil-spec sight and expect it to stay on.

Ah i see. Thanks so much for going to the trouble to bring it up with your friend.  I called XS as well and they said no too. Thanks for the help.

I dovetailed the front of my RIA and installed a set of XS sights. These sight are wonderful, only problem is that I cant hit the target AT ALL with them on the pistol now. I need to do some major work bringing the rear sight up some. I hand cut the dove tail for the front sight which was not that big of a deal, and if the pistol would be hitting correctly then it would be great as the sights are just super fast, I have never used a faster set of pistol sights before, but the rear sight is just extremely low.

I have big dots on a Kimber and have made hits out to 100 yds with it.  I love those sights.

Update on my sights, I just did some work on them, opening up the rear dovetail everso slightly and raising the rear sight up. Shoots like a dream now. Wonderful sights. I also would like to say that my first set the tritum on the rear sight was dead on arrival so I called the company and they had a replacement set to me in less than two days, no questions asked. Great customer service and a great product. I will get a set for my M&P 40 next if they make them.

Which model is that rear sight?  Their website (and catalog) are pretty vague about which models are which.  I want a low-profile rear like yours but it will be on a 5" 1911.

I don't know what model it is. I bought it directly from XS Sight Systems as a Big Dot 24/7 set for my XSE Commander. I suspect the rear sight for your Government Model would be the same one. I'd suggest calling them and telling them what you want. I found them to be very helpful when I was looking for sights for my pistol.

DM1975 has the standard mil-dovetail rear blade, Xtrooper has the XS sights for the Novak cut.

Thank you very much for that info.  I am having a gunsmith rework the slide anyway, so I guess I need to order the novak cut sights to get what I want.
