Picked up a Nitron coated Sig Revolution Compact 1911. Shot it yesterday. Out of 150 rounds, I had 6 failures to feed. I think it was a combination of a tight pistol and the ammunition. I used the CCi Brass cased 230 grain 45 acp exclusively today. When I did my part, the groups were sub 2" at 15 yards. Also, it didn`t like my Colt Officers mag. It had high feed lips that got stuck in the slide. I had to field strip the pistol to get it out. The 2 mags that came with the pistol and my Wilson Officer mags worked fine. The pistol has a nice bevel treatment done on the slide, but otherwise I think the tolerances are on the tight side. The slide stop openings and detent are definitely on the tight side. I lubed and lightly cleaned the gun with Gunslick wipes and Tetra gun grease several days before I went to the range. That should have been sufficient. Overall, not a bad pistol. I think it needs further break in with different types of ammunition. So far, I`m happy with it. |

had a similar problem on my GSR. The external extractor was very tight. Degrease the extractor with carb cleaner--you want to remove all oils because you actually want some friction here. Using a brass punch, try flexing it a few hundred times by pushing in on the back. That 'should' wear off any flashing and limber up the spring a bit. Re-lube and try shooting again. (I'm also having good luck with the Wilson mags--mine wouldn't run at all with the factory supplied Novaks until I replaced the mag springs) |

I didn`t have any extraction issues. The CCI Blazer wouldn`y always feed into the chamber. I figured that the ammo didn`t have enough oomph to cycle a tight new action. I`ll try it with other brands before I mess with the extractor. Besides, it gives me another reason to head to the range. |
excessive extractor tension will also cause failure to feed. I'm betting that the nose of the bullet was in the chamber, and the slide was stuck partially open when it failed. |
That`s what happened. The round wouldn`t feed completely into the chamber. |
