I have an SA loaded that has about 1k rounds through of mixed fmj, jhp and lswc. The pistol has run flawless to this point. The only complaint I have about it is the full length guide rod, every once in a while it comes loose and starts to protrude from the front of the pistol and I never remember to bring my allen wrench with me to the range to tighten it. I hear a lot of people mention getting a "gi rod and plunger" setup, which is supposedly easier to deal with. I know some will say that since my pistol has been flawless not to change anything on it but the loosening of the rod is starting to piss me off. Since I am a little confused as to what is actually a "gi rod and plunger" setup, can someone explain in detail or post a link to one on brownells or midway (I have my C&R). Thanks! |

Get a GI rod and it will end the problem. And there is no downside to using a gi rod. No unscrewing or need to carry a paper clip, no loss in accuracy and less weight. GI guide rod
