I am wondering about removing the ILS MSH of my 1911. I just purchased it and ran 300 rds through it saturday.  It's not that I dont like the ILS, but I would like to have a MSH with a laynard loop.
I did search and came up with nothing.

What is the advantage of changing them?

lighter trigger pull; no chances of the lock inadvertanly being engaged; less parts; no keys, no mess; traditional...just a few i can think of

Why a lighter trigger pull? Is it because there is less force applied to the hammer with the 20# spring, and therefore less force necessary applied to the sear and disconnect?

And I'm changing mine so I dont have to worry about it getting locked on accident, but if it also means a lighter trigger pull, then all the better.

Can someone help clear this up for me? I was always under the impression that removing the ILS (example, S&W new revolvers...) could put you in a world of hurt if the legals got a hold of you. But changing out the MSH on a Springer 1911 is a common change. Could a court give you a real problem if you changed out the MSH for an aftermarket one with no ILS?

I dont see how. If you shot someone on purpose and its a good shoot it wont matter.

Changing the MSH is not bad for a CCW or any defense pistol. I think they look more at if your mod changes the trigger pull or if you disable a safety.

It not going to matter, what legal mods you made to your firearm when you use it on a 2 legged animal.

I scrapped my ILS too. I went with Wilson Combat's Mag chute / MSH.

I like how it turned out.
