I h picked up a Colt 1991 9mm used that has a full length guide rod and open recoil spring plug. I want to convert it to the standard configuration. Any reason why it wouldn`t work? I don`t how the 9MM come from the factory. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Your Colt will work fine with the original GI spring guide and plug.
