Hey it's sort of 1911ish

I have a mustang I got from a guy who owed me money. It fails to extract (the extractor slips off the brass, I believe-basically it fires the slide comes all the way back and the brass is still about 1/2 way out of the barrel).

I have no burning desire to carry this pistol, but it's a neat little pistol (when it works). I had a fairly well known local pistolsmith work on it but he did not get it working. Who has a good rep with these guns? I remember there was a scottish guy but I think he quit/passed away or something.

I myself would also like to know of someone who knows these guns inside and out.  I might have a few questions for them.

Have you considered Colt?

Aimless the extractor tunes the same as a regular 1911 (FAQ ABOVE)

The go to guys used to be Scott, MacDougall and Associates. Then Doug Macdougal died. Mac Scott may or may not be in the business. M1911.org lists him as being an FFL dealer in Oregon. Cylinder and Slide, however, are definitely still in business, and they work on the little Colts.

I figured that as it looks the same, I was just unsure how many regular 1911 gunsmiths would work on them. I'll try Colt or Cylinder and Slide, thanks guys.

edit I didn't think of Colt because the gun has been out of production so long and Colt has changed hands so many times, but I will call them. I have to send back my Glock so I can kill two birds with one stone when I go to UPS.

C&S is known to do good work on them.
Also if you can manage to wait for your name
to come up on his list Ned Christensen is really
supposed to be GREAT with these!

He carries a Defender he did up himself.

When I had a prob with mine, I called Colt, they were able to walk me through fixing it on the phone, but they also said that if I couldn't fix it, to send it in and they'd fix it. Colt Mustang MK IV .380. Great lil gun!

I was going to mention C&S as well.

Oh Flightless One,

My vote goes for taking the two minutes to tune/set the extractor tension correctly yourself, instead of shipping the pistol off to have someone do it for you.    That is unless you just have to send the thing off be up-graded to a Pimp-Master Unit (Gold plated).
