... well maybe not really simplified...

A two-tone Government Model has remained popular for as long as the word custom has been attached to 1911, and for good reason. Called many things by many others before me, the classiness and classic-ness of a two-tone Gov’t Model has kept the finish combination a perennial favorite. Out of all the finishes available, be it traditional polished blue or any of the newest wonder finishes, a proper two-tone finish combination of “black” over “white” is a continuing favorite of mine and, like the Summer Special pictured with the gun, it’s a perfect recipe of tradition and practicality.

But this gun didn’t start a two-tone... this piece was a “spare” base gun I’ve been sitting on for a while that began life as an all-stainless “Enhanced” Colt Series 80 Government Model. Right about the time I finally got around to building it I happened to find an older carbon steel MK4 Series 80 slide so I figured why not make it my own idea of what the old Colt Combat Elite should have been... and a few months later this is the end result...

While not an “all the way” gun this piece got a thorough tuning... high-cut the frame with the factory “high-cut” removed, serrated front strap @ 20lpi, frame and slide fit with welded frame rails, Kart barrel with EGW bushing, flattened and serrated slide top, Professional Grade sights, hand-beveled mag-well, trigger job with our action components, new internals throughout and much, much more. Simplified? In reality probably not, but it did sound good.

Looks, sharp!!! I've always been a fan of two-tone 1911's. I've got a Caspian stainless recon frame and a parked Essex enhanced slide, hooked up in 9mm.

I cant stop looking at this pistol, it looks so nice. There is nothing in the world better than a nice 1911.

Beautiful, Jay! I have wanted a two tone for quite sometime, but it is far too humid in NW Ohio. Hmmm, maybe a silver KG, or NP3 frame topped with a Black-T slide...

Damn, I can't afford my vices.

Very nice Jason, I like understated 1911s and that is a very nice example of "more then meets the eye".  Me likey.

Those top serrations are a thing of beauty. Really.

Not only is it two-tone (which I love) but it is in the correct (at least in my opinion) configuration (black slide / silver frame).  Very nice looking gun!  And if it shoots as good as it looks, you are really in business!

there's some really nice work done to this pistol. But it aint all that. Things that can be fixed:

Grips haven't been fit. The bottom edge is uneven to the frame. Not a big deal but considering the detail of other areas...

The raduis on the front of the dust cover isn't clean. Hmm...

There's one thing that can't be fixed:

the fit of  the frame to beavertail isn't as clean as I would expect. Too much material removed from the frame in the radius. Major no-no.

eta: I'm sorry, were we just s'posed to pay attention to the 2-tone?

Frame to Beave is just fine, IMO.  Ever seen an out of the box Springfield Loaded?  Some of their work is atrocious...or how about the jazzed Colts out of Colt's Custom shop?  I know ten year olds who could do better work.

Jason's work is a hundred times better than anything you'll get out of the box from the big Three.

So I will be the first to ask, how does it shoot? You will shoot this master piece right?

Well I've have shot it of course and it shoots just as one would expect, or maybe even better. But since it is for sale someone else will get the pleasure of really wearing it out.

Thanks for the words guys I always appreciate it... I certainly enjoy to get your feedback on the guns.

Everywhere you look are really nice details and obvious craftsmanship.  Of course, two-tone look is just classic.   Not that I have any cash laying around for such things, but what is your asking price?

OK.  Fair nuff - Please post pics of a 1911 that you have built.  Also, pleae show us what a properly fit beavertail should look like, as Jason has obviously not done a good job.
