I will caution posters that the OP has listed this thread for 1911s ONLY not 1911a1s or variants.

I have an old, pitted Ithica 1911. It was one of those returned from overseas during the Reagan years. After some minor fitting and polishing, it became 100% reliable. Not a single hiccup in over 1K rounds! Eats whatever Papa feeds it. |
Getting their attention IS possible, but it involves lumber and a lot of kinetic energy.

I have a 1925 Remington UMC with a Colt A1 slide. I wish I could find a Remington slide to complete it |

To my knowledge it's never been refurbished but I have no conclusive way of proving that one way or the other. It came from an Old man's collection that was sold off after he died to a gun shop (you all know the story). The slide is stamped for GI service, but the barrel is obviously not a commercial barrel, it's a Hi-Standard barrel. I've been told that the gun falls into the correct serial number range to have been bought by an officer in WWI then likely that officer would have put a GI barrel in it and kept it as his own personal sidearm. It does have some wearing on the front of the slide though if you can see it. It also has the takedown scratch. It's faint but shows up real well on pictures. Oh well... I have some additional pictures of the markings on the inside. I haven't got a clue what they mean. |

Jealousy and envy. Two of the fatal 7. It's a work of art {removed}-SGB

Some consider Robert Maplethorp an artist, but that doesnt mean I have to like it. And no, I have never been jealous or envious of his subjects. BTW - Personal attacks are against the COC. |
That's a nice group from the bench. Now lets see you hit a grapefruit at 50yds offhand.

Oh, well then, excuse me. You are not a {removed}-SGB . You just have no taste. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. |
Chalk me up as having no taste either. But hey, I'm glad you're happy with your 1911 that's what's important. |
Read the nametag. You're in my world now grandma.
So is trolling in the tech forums (non-tech thread notwithstanding). ![]() I don't have a dog in this fight and I certainly don't like a lot of offerings posted in some of our pic threads, but there is a difference between a constructive, neutral criticism and some inflammatoy posting. I would say that was unnecessary to make the post, and if you had to make the comment there would have been a more appropriate way to do so. My $.02 |
+1 not my cup of tea. But its still nice, and thanks for sharing. |
I have to agree. That is one freakin' awesome pistol you got thar man. |
|
Wow is right!. Man, what a piece of work..! It may be ugly to some, but just think of all the intricate work involved, and those beautiful ivory grips. I am struck just looking at the pictures of this gun...whew! Of course, I am jelous too! Lucky you...! Of course, all the 1911's on this thread are a delight to my eyes..! Good for all of you lucky owners! |
Big +1 to that one I think these worn out, but original 1911s look alot better But to each his own.

By looking at the pictures it would appear the frame is a 1911A1. The back of the grip is arched, there are tapers for the trigger finger and Guy H. Drewry was a WWII inspector. |
Thanks! For that information. Can you tell me about the other stampings marks? If the frame is a 1911A1 could it been in england? What are the stamp makes? Thanks again! PITA45
