A couple of weeks ago, a buddy of mine that works close to the border was in town for a class at the local school.
He brought with him a brand new Gemtech Blackside suppressor:

and a 45 Glock and a Colt stainless Commander.
I shortened and threaded a 6" Stormlake barrel for the Glock and worked over his Commander. :)

I used a stock Colt 5" barrel as a host for his threaded and extended barrel. The rear sight was honestly carved from a pre-heat treated bar of 4130CM measuring 1" x 1.5" x 12". The 'prominent' sights are necessary for a sight picture over the can.
The 'Rogers Whitedot' front sight is a great aid in acquiring the front sight against the black background of the can.
Dry, the can is loud! Saturated with water, it is quite quiet.

This is a fairly poor attempt at showing the sight picture. I built the sights to barely peek over the can so as to not have them impractically tall.

The unit is light enough that the gun functions quite well with the original 18lb. recoil spring. I believe the lighter commander length slide enhances operation with the can attached.

This is kind of strange, but your pistols always look too good to fire. The just look so perfect.

If I'm not mistaken, those are the Horned Lizards made by Larry Davidson. I have some on my Bobtail Commander. They are fantastic.

That's a nice little 'compact' package (relative to my own full-size 1911 with an SWR HEMS-2 suppressor)

I have a Blackside and extended KART barrel for my 1911, much fun.

Make sure your friend remembers to detail strip and clean. The water and powder mix and get blown back into EVERY piece of a 1911.
