Im already rebuilding my own pistols..staking a front sight cant be that hard+ I dont want to pay $50 an hour or more to have a smith do it big reason why I started getting into building just have never staked on a front sight..ive dovetailed for millets but my buddy wants to keep his original GI slide original.Anyone have any experience staking on a front sight and what they used to do it..TIA..Dave |

You can get the front sight staking tool from Brownell's. Be aware that there are several different front sight tang sizes out there, and the sight you get has to match the hole in the slide. I don't know how hard it is. I couldn't find anyone around here willing to stake a sight when I wanted one done, everyone figures it's easier to mill a dovetail. |
Brownells sells the tool for $35. Maybe you can find a local friend who already has one, and will lend it to you. Also, you might find some useful info here: http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-49928.html |
