| I am looking at the 7rd, rounded follower, welded base, stainless mags. Brownells cat# 620-045-002DA. Are there any pros or cons? I currently own Wilsons, CMC and Novak mags. I just want info on these. Thanks. |
| Thanks for the info...I used to use CMC Shooting stars. The worked fine, but I never liked the follower and how it 'rocked'. I like the Wilson 47D's and own three, but I know the follower does not work in all applications all the time. Plus, the follwer itself will wear down and under heavy use will fail. I got Novaks with my YoBo, but have seen the back of the mag crack at the rounded cut-away, just aft of the follower. I have heard good and bad things about Metalform, sich as, the base falling off (bad weld), but I know they and Ed Brown have a rounded, fully supported metal follower. I like this type of follower and know it helps with ejection. Plus, with this type of design if your extractor begins to fail; the rounded follower will still kick out that last round(ideally). I have also read the articles on the Tripp Cobra mag and they seem promissing along with 10-8's recommendation regarding the CMC Powermag and its use with Tripp's upgrade kits. I may, in true AR-15 fasion get one of each; a CMC Powermag and a Metalform. I figure a thousand rounds through each and see which comes out the winner for my 1911's. Does anyone have any info on the Springfield/FBI mag produced by Metalform? Thanks again. |
| So, I've got an idea...I'm going to order a 3-pack of Wolff replacement mag springs (8 rd), 2-'Silver' Metalform rounded followers and 1-CMC Powermag. I am going to replace the followers in both a Wilson 47D and the CMC Powermag and see how it works. I'll try out the CMC in its original setup first before changing anything. Has anyone else tried this? |
That's the exact idea I had for rebuilding my Wilsons as the springs & followers wore out. None have so far or I would have done this long ago. |
