What spring weight should I be looking for to tame recoil and improve trigger pull?
What weight recoil spring?
What weight main spring?
Any help or advice is appreciated

OEM for the recoil spring is 16lbs for most manufactures with the Semi Custom manufactures using 18-18 1/2 lb recoil springs

OEM for the hammer spring for most manufacturers is 23lbs with some using 21  to 19 lbs. While a lighter hammer (main) spring may give you a lighter trigger pull it also gives you a lighter hammer strike.

While adjusting springs for a lighter trigger pull in a range or target gun is acceptable for a carry or self defense firearm is a bad idea.

A good smith can easily achieve a 4 to 5lb crisp trigger utilizing full power springs.

FWIW, I have been known to go as high as 20lbs in the recoil spring in my Govt mil-spec. I have a personal pet peeve (paranoia?) about frame battering. Make of that what you will..............

16lbs. if you plan on using full power loads... a 14lbs. spring may also work for you. A lighter spring will generally let you get back on target faster.

What weight main spring?

A 17lbs.-19lbs. spring may reduce the trigger pull weight but generally speaking swapping out one mainspring for a lighter part is, by itself, not the best way to reduce the trigger weight. I use a 23lbs. mainspring in every gun I build and I routinely achieve triggers that weigh 3lbs. and sometimes even less.
