I will be coming home shortly and have several projects planned.  One of them being my springfield 1911.

It has had sporadic feeding issues with certain hollow points, predominatly on the first round (insert magazine, hit slide release, round stops slide, canted upward into chamber, still partly in magazine.  I retract slide fully, release, round chambers the rest of the way)  It occasionally will do the same thing partway through the magazine while firing.

magazines regardless...although most of my magazines are wilson combat.  I've always just avoided troublesome ammo and been happy.  Now thinking I want it to be right.

so...is this a feedramp issue that requires polishing - and if so - what book, materials etc do I need?

My Kimber had similar problems on semi wadcutters, sent it back and they polished the feedramp and throated the barrel.  I did not do this work, but it solved the problem, and the gun eats HP's with no problem now.

Jerry Kuhnhausen

Vol. 1: The Colt .45 Automatic: A Shop Manual

Vol. 2: The US M1911/A1 Pistols

These books detail tons of things you could do to your 1911. He also describes tools used, procedures, etc.

I'm pretty sure you'll find how to polish the ramp in those books.
