well got my 1911. its just a plain old springfield. i added the magwell, wolf spring kit, new beaver tail and hammer. had the trigger lightened up a touch, its between 4 and 4.5 now. once the new trigger comes in a fellow member of here said hed do a better trigger job for me. i had it duracoated desert mint on the frame. looked real good till i bumped it and nicked it before it cured. owell...... it came with adjustable sights and 4 mags. i was going to buy new but the used gun saved me some coin. over all im real happy with it.

one question for you is when should one add a match barell or a better barell? should i wait till i can shoot/hold better? i dont want to waste money if its not going to help.

below is a few pics of it. i havent shot a .45 in 4 years i bet. heres some targets i shot at 25 yards at the indoor range. 230 grain FMJ.

From the looks of those 25 yd groups, I don't think a barrel is going to help you at all.  I know that at this point, I can't shoot that well with any gun at 25 yds, and i've been at this for a little while.  I would say when you feel that there is a serious handicap to the factory setup, you may want to think about it, but it looks like you're doing fine.  Leave it alone and shoot it a lot!

+1, you apparently don't need a barrel, or even a match bushing/re-crown.

Nice weapon and great shooting - not sure what you want to tighten up. Those are great 25 yard groups. I am happy with those at 7 -10 yards out of my Desert Warrior.

and i even got the "idiot scratch" from the slide stop. o well ill abuse the finish for a while, then get it done again.

do the hammers ive been seeing on other guys pistols make a difference? mine is solid, some ive seen is hollow in the middle.

Nice Springfield.  I only come close to groups like that at 25 yards with my M4.

Again, a lighter hammer might make for faster lock time and better groups, but how can you improve on those groups?  You aparently have the marksmanship basics down, you might want to spend your time on some close up shooting working on building speed, maybe an IDPA Match or something along those lines.  I wouldn't mess with the gun until you find something you don't like about it.  As a matter of fact, if it shoots that well, you might want to leave that one as is and get another one to mess around with!

Nice pistol colbyjack.
Don't think it's going to be your only one either.

Just started shooting USPSA/IPSC myself.
I'm shooting production with a G34, but I might jump to Limited with my Kimber 40.

Groups look good, I wouldn't change a thing yet.
