Question all,

I have been shooting my Taurus for a while, and it's been a great pistol.  My only concern is that the primers on all my brass has been bulging out a bit, regardless of ammunition used.

The firing pin hole does not seem to be damaged, however I am concerned about the headspace.

Has anyone heard about this?

The firing pin hole may be to large, hard to tell from the pics.

You need to send the gun back to Taurus for warranty, bad news is that thier customer service SUCKS. Expect a long wait.

Take a look at the firing pin hole in the breach face. It is probably chamfered (beveled).  If its chamfered then there is nothing wrong with your pistol and it's a known issue with the PT1911. (Some of the other shooters said their Glocks and Berattes do the same thing.)  Many gunsmiths chamfer the firing pin holes as part of their reliability packages. It helps to keep the brass from hanging up on a rough hole.  Taurus just chamfers theirs more than most gunsmiths.

I listened to some of the internet commandos and sent my first PT1911 back to Taurus and they sent me a new one in about three weeks. Guess what, the new one had a chamfered firing pin hole also.  So I spent $60 in shipping just to find out that it's not a problem.  Product liability is a very major concern of any manufacturing company these days.  You can bet that Taurus wouldn't have sent me another PT1911 with a chamfered firing pin hole if it was a safety problem.  While I was waiting for my new one, I did a search on the internet and found out about the chamfered firing pin holes.  Shoot it and enjoy it.

If you seach some of the other gun boards you'll find a lot of posts on the primer marks. Heres a picture of my brass from my first PT1911 and my brass looks the same from my second PT1911.

thanks much dude, the firing pin hole is chamfered. What I may do is get a go-no go gauge and make sure the headspace is fine. Otherwise, I plan to call Taurus tomorrow.  I plan to go to Miami in about a month anyway so I'll drop in and have them look at it just to be sure.

Thanks for the heads up

Thank you Diamondback, your information is greatly appreciated! My PT1911 does the same thing to the primers and was going to let a gunsmith take a look at it. After reading your post I'm not going to worry about it. Sorry you had to find out the hard way but on the bright side, your information should help many others with the same issue. Thanks again.
