I've been reading another thread on grip and thumb positions. It seems that the general consensus is that for combat shooting, a high grip with thumbs forward is what's recommended by many. Strong hand thumb resting on the safety, off-hand thumb pointing forward, no contact with slide or frame. Would this necessarily also be applicable to two handed bullseye type shooting? or is this less critical in slow fire work? |

My grip is similar and was acquired via professional combat training. - Thumbs forward - Strong side resting on the safety - Support side resting on the frame just in front of the slide stop pin nearly touching the slide In conjunction w/that grip my support side wrist is cocked hard. By this I mean, point your thumb at the target w/your arm extended toward the target. Your wrist will cock hard forward. Keep your wrist this way when you grip the pistol. When you do this, your support side thumb will rest in the location indicated above in a natural manner (more natural than the description for sure). |
