My favorite gun dealer ordered a few guns from Springfield Armory and got a lovely black w/rail TRP 1911 that he did not want.  He can ship it back but he can also sell it to me for $1300 out the door since he just wants to move the thing. I happen to think pretty highly of SA and the gun is beautiful to say the least. It is one of the nicest factory 1911's I seen with regards to fit and finish and trigger pull.

Input please?

$1300 seems to be about the right price for one, is it a full-length rail or the newer standard length? The older full-length ones seem to be snapped up the instant they get put up for sale.

Either way, it's purely a matter of what you like. The bull barrel setup supposedly makes it extremely accurate, but I'm no fan of those adjustable night sights. I think if it were the full rail, I'd be on it in a heartbeat, other wise, I'd marinate on it for a while. That's just me talking, though.

Fit and finish is top notch, as well as accuracy in that price range. I had one of the full rail ones and it was 100% reliable and extremely accurate.

The things I ended up not liking were the adj NS and the bull barrel. The barrel probably made it marginally more accurate but it was an abosolute PITA to take apart.

The price in VA for a TRP is running ~ 1300, which is clost to what I paid for mine.  Very fine fit and finish, with no malfunctions in 3000 rds through it.  Note, it is a PITA for full guide-rod disassembly, which I now relegate to the 2000 rnd. mark between full cleanings.

Best,

Ed
