Its been long enough that I have pretty much forgot about my last 1911 fiasco, so I'm going to try again . This time I am starting with a base gun and intend to do what I can myself, what I can't do I will send out, hopefully I will gain a better understanding of the 1911 doing it this way. I am starting with a NIB stainless USGI Springfield Armory, I just fired 50 rounds through it accuracy is exceptional, my older eyes don't do well with the small sights (so I opened the rear slot up a bit), a lot of ejected brass lands on top of my head and the trigger is smooth but somewhat  heavy.
I am going to lower and flare the ejection port, I am guessing this will cure the brass on the head thing or could it something else ?
Where can I find directions on how the 1911 trigger works and how to improve one that needs a little help ?
Thanks
