It's sad but true. I've caught the 1911 bug, and I'm afraid it's terminal. So far I have a Springfield 1911 milspec, and 2 sistema colt 1911s that I'm fixing up. I'm curious as to some opinions as to where I should be progressing next. Recently I paid a visit to a local gunsmith who happens to be an expert on 1911s. I guess I never knew all the ins and outs and quirks that 1911s are all about. It's making me think of my next 1911. Should I be looking in the range of 800-1200 for my next one? Specifically I was looking at the GSR, TRP Operator, or the Kimber'ish/Warrior sort of thing. But I was also considering possibly building my own 1911, maybe STI or Caspian parts, and having the gunsmith do all the fitting and fine tuning. |

Don't bother with another fixer... you already have that covered with the Sistema(s). Your best bet is to get something completely different. If you are firm on that price range then consider a railed pistol (like the Springer), a compact CCW (Colt CCO, or Springer/Kimber compact), or a basic match pistol (Gold Cup) |
