I just picked up a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec .45. Does anyone make a 10mm conversion for it? I'm limited to either a Glock () or a Kimber (more than double what I paid for the Springfield) if I was to buy a new one, and rarely do used ones come up for sale around here. Am I s.o.l.?

The breechface is different (among other things) I believe. You can convert a 40 to a 10 though I think.

So yeah, as far as I know, you're SOL.

I may be wrong -- I often am, ask my wife -- but I think you are Sorely Out of Luck.  In addition to the breechface and extractor requiring a new slide, I believe the frame-mounted ejector would not work.  That is, I guess you could convert your .45 to 10mm if you just replace the barrel, the slide and the frame!

Gee, hardly seems worth it now

If the Springfield has a frame mounted ejecter, that would be the deal breaker.

Otherwise a new slide, barrel, and ejecter, recoil springs would get you there!

What 1911's ejector is not frame mounted?

It can be done, it would just as much as buying a new 10mm kimber.

Gunsmith fees slide barrel etc all add up.

Hows about a Colt Delta Elite?  Would have to find it used, though, as they are no longer made.
