I won't be able to until I pay down my current credit cards and yes, before anyone points it out, I will reward myself for paying down my debt by putting myself approximately $1,000 more in debt. The logic is lost on my wife too...but it makes perfect sense to me. Have 1911's from both companies and like them both. I like both the finishes (the black and grey of the Kimber and the Black and OD green of the Champion) so really looks isn't that big a deal. However, my GI .45 from Springfield has "Made in Brazil" engraved just in front of the trigger guard. Do the Champions have that? If they do I will go Kimber no questions asked. Not trying to be a snob, I just don't like it. Opinions please? |
You already have the answer:
All Champions are Made in Brazil (as virtually all Springfield 1911's) and will be marked as such. |
|
SA's 1911s frames are mostly (?) all made in brazil, but the ones i have had were marked so under the grip pannels they are still top quality stuff; the older ones were USA of the 2, i'd go w/ the kimber (w/ internal extractor) if you want to up the extra cash....if not, the champion is a great deal for what you get *ETA* |
care to make a wager? |
no sir, i wouldnt (i try not to make bets i know i'll looseah sorry about that mr sgb: i forgot that a few are still made here--the custom in-house frames are, correct? |
| I have both a TRP Operator and a MC Operator and neither has made in Brazil any where, as an owner of a total of 8 1911's including a Kimber TLR and Custom IPSC gun I will say that with out a doubt the TRP Operator is the finest handgun I own( and I have 32) the Kimber dose not even come close. |
| My Operator is NOT stamped Brazil like those loose tolorance POS springfields....what the hell is springfield thinking....I saw the GI stamped brazil, there was a 1/4" gap inbetween the slide and frame...the main spring was exposed it appeard as if the slide was too long for the frame. What a real piece of Junk! It was also 500-600...I guess you get what you pay for. |
| I had a Kimber Tactical Pro that I had the ambi safty break on me after 300 rounds. Now I realize that it's a MIM part but that shouldn't happen on a $1000 pistol. The experience left me with a bad taste for Kimber. I know my Springfield MC Operator has MIM parts too but no problems yet with it after 1000 rounds. I'd go with the SA. |
