I just bought a Wilson Combat 1 piece guiderod and it came with a beefier hammer springfiring pin spring. Do I need to install that or is it just a "bonus"?

what is a "hammer spring"? do you mean hammer strut, mainspring, or recoil spring?

My guess is it is a bonus.  As I can telll from my limited experience with the 1911 platform.  The firing pin is receced until the monet thet the hammer drops.  So as far as I am able to tell the lide moving would have no baring on the action of the firing pin.  Well perhaps some inertia isssues that i am sure others would know a lot more about.  My vote.  Change it out what could it hurt?
