I found a chromed Norinco 1911 for sale by a friend of a friend. I have never seen a chrome plated 1911 from the factory. were any made?

It has bright shiney chrome and brown norinco grips.

IIRC there are NO factory chrome norcs.  However, Norinco used to (or maybe still does) make a bright nickel plated version.   I used to have one, and got rid of it before I knew any better ( I traded it for a Colt 1991 Commander...from the early 90's...plastic trigger and all ).

I agree completely.  It was my first 1911, and I was on a budget, so I thought I'd get a "cheap-ass-chicom-POS" for $249 NIB.  It wasn't until years later that I realized the magnitude of my stupidity.

I found this photo of what it looks like, except it has the brown norinco grips with the star in the middle, and a normal mag no rubber extensions. What should I offer?

Yes I liked it.  Great gun.  I changed the trigger because I didn't like the short GI one.  Then I replaced the springs and had my gunsmith do a trigger job.  4.5lbs and it shot nice.

The Norincos are a great bargain.
