just got my 1st 1911 and love the thing it's a sa mil spec and first trip to range found out I was pulling to the right pretty consistantly....got home and practiced with some snap caps and verified this... what am I doing wrong...be gentle

Seems like you are doing a lot right. Good for you... getting the snap caps and performing dry firing.

Are you using the pad on your fingertip to contact the triggerpad or going past the knuckle joint? former -good, latter- bad.


How are you holding the pistol? have you consulted some diagrams/walkthroughs? holding a pistol too tightly/loosely will all contribute.

If you can, splurge for a few basic shooting sessions at the range. They can show you hands on what you are doing right & wrong. And keep up on the dryfiring.

I does sound like you have too much finger over the trigger.  Use the tip of your finger and pull STRAIGHT back.
