In all the pictures I've seen of Baer 1911s the plane of the slide to frame is uninterupted, and usually with 1911s this is not the case.
Is the slide thinner or the frame larger than a "normal" 1911's? Is this just a Baer signature, or is there some other reason for this?

Are you talking about short and long dust covers?

No, I was talking about how the slide overhangs the frame on either side.  On their Baer's website it looks like one smooth line like in this picture

But apparently their website is the only place this phenomenon occurs because just googling for pics I can't find one actual picture that shows this.

I think it's an illusion, because the Baers encountered in R/L never caught my eye that something was off. In the case of the hypothetical that there is a specific model that does this, I would state with confidence that the frame would be beefed up, because the amount of slide shaved off to accomplish that effect would be too significant to function properly.

I think you are right.

I definitely jumped the gun on this.  Idle hands do the devil's work!

thats the Monolithic models.  My Stinger has a normal dust cover

thats the Monolithic models. slide/frame fit is tight as hell, but nothing you wouldn't normally see on a 1911

Its an optical illusion. Now, STIs are actually that way--wider frames.

On single stack 1911s, the slide is wider than the frame, doesn't matter who the maker is.
