I have been looking at our local Cabalas at these two pistols. The Stainless II is $769.00 and the TLE II is $969.00. I like the front checkering and feel of the TLE II but am worried about the external ejector. Besides that I see no difference in the two or am I wrong? Your input would be appreciated...
Thanks Joe

Same gun, different front strap.  If the one you're looking at has the external extractor then I'd run away.  I like checkering but I like Grip Tape even more and it's about $5 or so for enough to do 3 or 4 pistols.  Doesn't look bad either...

Here's my stainless II...

I'd take the one with the internal extractor over the other.  Plus it's 2 bills cheaper!  Front checkering can be simulated real easy with pachmayr grips or other stuff.  I don't think it's that much of a problem anyway.  Just my 2 pennies.

The stainless TLE's only come with the EE. I would also go with the Stainless II for the IE. For less than $200 you can have the checkering done if you wanted to.

Thank's for the suggestions, think I will forget about the TLE...

I was under the impression that Kimber was phasing out the external extractor completely....   So if you just wait a little while, your shop will eventually get one of the new non-EE models in.

I wonder if only the one they are using for display has the EE. I really like the feel of the checkering, maybe I will go back this weekend...

I have a TLE with the internal extractor and blackened stainless finish.  Has been 100 percent from the get go using 200 Gr SWC, either Precision or Bear Creek coated.  I did not know they made one finished in this manner until I bought this one.  I run it pretty wet (Tetra or the Like) as I use it only at the range.  If I were to carry it I would not be afraid to use a light coat of Gun Butter or some other quality light oil.
I originally bought a new Stainless TLE with the external extractor about a year and a half ago.  I heard so much bad info regarding the external extractor I sold it unfired.  I will never know if I was wrong or not but am completely satisfied with the internal extractor TLE I have now. I also like the checkered front strap.

The Stainless TLE and the Team Match are the only two guns that Kimber still uses the EE on. As far as I know they have no plans of changing that in the near future. You wont find a stainless one with an IE. If you go with the black TLE you get the IE.
