I was pissed when I missed out on the Lipsey's boatload of Sistimas. Last week I saw a pair in the store used cabinet for $399 ea. The finish is as everybody described... rough to the point of ugly (but that's a small concession for an old warhorse that is built and performs like a 1911 should) Unfortunately that didnt end at the finish. One had a badly canted rear sight and most importantly, the trigger felt awful on both. It was rough and extremely heavy for a 1911.  If you want a beater that you wouldn't put another dollar into the SA GI seems to make more sense, seeing how it actually has a finish and no 1911 could have a worse trigger. You could do a parts overhaul, a trigger job, and a professional rebluing, but now you're about $200 shy of a NIB series 70 reissue. Just my way of making myself (and you others who missed out) fell better that we missed out. |
