I'm relatively new to aftermarket parts on my 1911.  I have a Colt M1991A1 and want to put some night sights on it.  The front doesn't look to be removable like the rear.  Is this correct?  Can I not replace the front site on my gun?

Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can.

its the org post type sight.

A gunsmith can mill in a dovetail cut for aftermarket sights (go this route). Or you can see if anyone sells nightsites for the post and smash front sight.

Good to know.  Thanks.

It's a simple mod, most folks will charge you just over $100 to mill the front and rear to accept a set of night sights.

I always buy my slides bald. I'll mill my own cocking serations in the frame. Then I'll call the GS  to machine in the bomar cuts and ask about the size of his front sight dovetail tooling.

You could send the slide to Novak's and have the cuts made, and the sights installed. They have a pretty quick turn around time.

Both Trijicon and Meprolight sell stake-on front night sights.
