Did a search; if this is already discussed, please direct me to a link. Interested in impressions of STI: worth the money? Accurate/reliable under adverse conditions? Thanks. |

I was assuming single stack, as I shoot it well, but haven't tried double stack. This is a SHTF sidearm, secondary weapon to my AR. Will be carried exposed. I carry an HKP7M8 concealed daily. Rail preferred. I had been leaning toward Kimber Warrior, but am reading so many references to Kimber problems; STI came across my radar. |

STI is by far the most popular maker in USPSA limited and open class. This says a lot (positive) about their reliability and durability. They use high quality parts and fit and finish is very good. They are not true custom guns, but high-level production guns. However, several excellent gunsmiths are also STI dealers, and can do just about anything you would like to the gun. Dave Dawson of DawsonPrecision.com and Bob Londrigan of BrazosCustom.com I have an STI based open gun and an SVI limited gun. They work great. The STI single stacks I have seen are well built and they offer a lot in the way of features. I can't vouch for contruction of all the parts, but I'm sure that Dave Skinner (owner) will respond to email or calls. |

Our local smith uses there frames (2011) for his builds. He likes to use caspin slides. I think it has to due with caspin slides are oversized and must be fitted to the frame. I bought both a caspin 45 slide and a STI 38 cal frame. Both bald (no sight cuts or slide cuts). The sti fit like a glove on my used colt 80 frame. the Caspin did not fit the kimber frame. the rails were oversized and had to be fit. STI makes a great product worth every penny weather bought from the factory or built from a 1911 smith |

I carry an STI daily and own four others. They are fine guns (we are an STI Master Dealer). Both their single stack and the 2011 hi-cap models are excellent examples of the 1911. If this is intended for your SHTF gun I would recommend the 2011 line for the extra capacity. www.talonarms.com Here is my carry STI: ![]() STI in .38 Super with a commander sized slide. 17+1 rounds. Mostly Ed Brown parts with Novak tritium sights and a Briley barrel. The finish is Black-T by Birdsong. The holster is a Mitch Rosen 5JR in sharkskin. |
