I have in my possession a 70 series Colt Government Model. It has obviously been sent to Wilson Combat at some time in its life. The slide is engraved: "Wilson Combat Berryville Ark". The firearm has a blue slide and the frame has been finished in some type of hard chrome (satin finish). The serial number starts with 70G which indicates that it was manufactured between 1970 - 76. It has the typcial 1911 enhancements: ambi safety, bevertail grip safety, skeleton target trigger & hammer, adjustable sights, and Wilson stainless barrel. The finish on the slide is pretty much gone, but no major dings on the slide or frame. The frame/slide fit are super tight. The trigger is nice. I can tell that the conversion is older by the parts used. I have the option to buy this piece, but I don't know what it is worth. Any thoughts? Thanks for the input. Scotty |
| My guess would be it was a package conversion of some type from Wilson. I doubt they would have marked the slide with their name otherwise. It may be worth a premium to a collector. I wouldn't be suprised if Wilson doesn't have the serial number of that gun on file with information on the work done. |
