This is a quickie and I'm sure someone will knock this one out of the ballpark.  I want to get an Ed Brown grip safety.  When looking at them they state they are for either a series 70 or series 80 pistol.  Uh,.... is a SA Mil-Spec a 70 or 80 series gun?  I looked through the 70 versus 80 thread and couldnt find the answer.

Thanks

Should be a series 70.  Main difference for series 70 to series 80 is the firing pin block or firing pin safety.  If you can push the firing pin so that it protrudes through the breechface (with a paper clip or pen) then its a series 70.

Springfields are mechanically the same as series 70 ( no extra safety parts )

A grip safety made for a Colt series 70 will fit and function ( may require tweaking )

However, a Colt grip safety will not LOOK GOOD Cosmetically unless

Hand Fitted to the gun , because the radius of the Tang on an SA is different
from a Colt.

Is that clear as mud?
