Hello Gent's

I am looking to replace some stock parts on my colt government stainless series 80. I am thinking I would like to swap out the safety grip and hammer for a wilson combat setup. I would like to put in a new trigger aswell and lighten the trigger pull, was curious whats a good trigger setup to get for this model?

Much appreciated

What would you recommend I change out other then the parts listed above.

What would I need to lighten the trigger pull?

to get a great trigger on a 1911. you need to have a 1911 smith work on the sear and hammer  geomentrey.

or you could put in lighter mainspring. this will not give you a better trigger just a lighter one and not much lighter. You also run the chance of not having enough force to set off a primer. Me I dont go below 19 pounds on my Edge.  Comp only gun 2 years USPSA still watting for my first light hit.

For a carry gun I run 21 pounds.

Thanks for the advice greg

I have a kimber aswell and compared to the colt the kimber's trigger is much more smooth (lighter) pull.

So far I was thinking of adding:
Wilson Combat High-Ride Beavertail
Wilson Combat Deluxe Hammer
Wilson Combat Ultralight match trigger
Wilson Combat Deluxe A-2 Sear

Should I go ahead and replace the factory springs for WC set of springs?

Not to be the spoiler, but many of the parts you are talking about require fitting by someone who knows what they are doing and have the correct tools.

However, several makers (EGW, Cylinder and Slide) offer pre-fitted hammer/sear/disconnector/leaf spring sets.  Brownells carries them.

Anytime you replace a sear, you may have to refit or replace and fit the thumb safety.

There are "drop in" grip safeties, but they drop in so far as they do not require machining of the frame (if you get the correct type for what you have), and they can leave some unsightly gaps.  Moreover, you may still have to fit the grip safety to the trigger bow to ensure that it will work right.

Triggers can require fitting vertially and horizontally on the trigger itself, and also on the bow, as well as some polishing and deburring.

I suggest that you contact a reputable 'smith to get the job done right the 1st time.
